Interoperability has often been misunderstood across digital experiences and gaming environments. Many assume it simply involves moving items from one place to another or copying assets between different experiences. 

At Genies, our vision for interoperability has been driven by one of our two guiding mantras:

To realize this ambitious vision, we've developed an interoperable framework that combines automated game asset generation with seamless in-game runtime integration. Without this technology, a jacket designed for one avatar could appear stretched, undersized, or visually incompatible on another character. Similarly, a sword intended for a cartoon fantasy setting might clash aesthetically in a gritty, post-apocalyptic cyberpunk world.

At Genies, interoperability isn't merely about transferring avatars and assets—it's about intelligently adapting them so they fit effortlessly across various avatars and diverse experiences. The result: a frictionless process for creators, consistently high-quality visuals, and truly universal digital assets.

Developers can harness our AI-driven tools to create avatars and game-ready assets to build experiences for Parties – a place for IP owners and creators to transform user engagement from passive consumption into active co-creation, immersive social interaction, and dynamic play (more on that here). Creators can bring their imaginations to life, designing and releasing wearables, props, and animations that can be equipped and utilized by any avatar, in any Party.

How Interoperability is Made Possible With Genies Technology

We’ve invested the last few years developing our core tech stack to enable anyone to create anything and everything to work with everything (more on our guiding mantras here). Our core tech that makes interoperability possible includes: 

• AutoRigging: After generating any 3D asset with Genies UGC tools or creating from scratch, users can automatically convert their asset into a fully-rigged, animateable, game-ready asset. Whether it’s a wearable, a vehicle, an avatar, or an interactive prop, the system adapts assets to seamlessly integrate across different Party environments without requiring manual rigging or adjustments.

• Wearable Refitting: Any UGC asset uploaded into the system, whether fashion, hairstyle, or accessory, can automatically refit to be universally compatible across avatars of any size, shape, or style. Whether a user wants their avatar to have a hulk-like figure or they want to be a mermaid with a tail, they’d be able to upload a shirt that will configure seamlessly to either avatar across any Party, giving them a full range of possibilities when creating and styling their avatar.

• Asset Stylizer: Custom shader tools ensure that all UGC seamlessly blends into a Party’s aesthetic, whether it’s hyper-realistic, cartoon-like, or anime inspired. This enables IP partners and developers to have control over the look and feel of UGC in their experiences.

• Animation Retargeting: Genies animation retargeting and remapping technology automatically makes all animations and emotes work seamlessly with all avatars, no matter their size, shape, or style. 

• Native Avatar Framework: Solves for true interoperability and performance across all gaming and rendering engines. Genies proprietary framework enables all avatar creations and experiences to work seamlessly across any game, platform, device, and engine - ensuring creations maintain quality while enabling universal compatibility.

• Genies Login: A universal entry point and identity system allowing users to effortlessly bring their avatar and inventory of digital goods across any Party experience.

Interoperability At Genies Happens At Two Core Levels:

1. Avatar & Asset Interoperability

Most digital platforms restrict what you create—locking outfits, accessories, or props to a single avatar type. But with Genies, one creation works everywhere in the Genies ecosystem:

• A jacket initially designed for a human looking avatar could automatically fit a Hulk looking avatar, reshaping itself while maintaining its aesthetic.

• Resize a hoodie made for a Hulk looking avatar and reform to fit a short, stocky troll avatar, adjusting the sleeves and torso to look natural.

• If you create or acquire a sequin dress, you can automatically fit it to your avatar, whether you’re a mermaid or a hulk-like figure.

With AI-driven adaptability, every wearable or prop you create transforms dynamically, ensuring no extra work is needed to make it compatible across different avatar varieties.

2. Experience-to-Experience & Party-to-Party

Interoperability isn’t just about UGC assets working seamlessly with each other—it’s also about where your avatar and inventory can go. Genies ensures that avatars and their customizations, wearables, and props persist across different experiences without needing to be rebuilt or altered. As long as an experience or platform is built using Genies Login and Avatar Framework, a user’s avatar and inventory can seamlessly travel with them from game to game and Party to Party (and eventually even across other platforms or experiences created with other engines).

For example, let’s say you’re in an anime-style Party and then log into a Pixar-style experience, a user’s avatar and inventory can be ported between either and will automatically adapt to those environments aesthetically. This gives your creations more utility and value since you can use them throughout a wider range of games, apps, and Parties.
